Welcome!

This Regional Tsunami Resources and Results Tracking website enables access to the various Development Assistance Databases (DADs) implemented in Indonesia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand and at a regional level. This website also presents a regional perspective of the assistance for tsunami-recovery provided to the affected countries, including access to various reports, charts, documents and other information to assist donors, implementers, governments and the general public to enable better insight into funding flows.

UNDP has been requested by the Governments of Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand and Indonesia to support them in enhancing their systems for coordinating tsunami-related activity. In each country, the work is lead by the nodal Government agency, supported by the UNDP Country Offices and the UN.

At the regional level, data has been brought together to create a regional database containing all tsunami related data from the above countries. A Private Sector DAD has been developed to record private sector flows, particularly those from transnational firms that may not have reported their assistance to the individual Government-owned systems in each tsunami-affected countries.

Development Assistance Database (DAD) Graphing Capability

Each DAD also enables users to produce a wide range of graphs to explore various aspects of the data, such as financial data by donors or sectors.

The following example shows a ranking of the sectors across the region, by US$ committed to the recovery process, highlighted the vast amount of money and need in the area of housing.

Development Assistance Database (DAD) Mapping Capability

Each national DAD can provide a map of the tsunami-affected areas for that country, illustrating a geographical breakdown of the data. The map view enables further categorisation of the data by factors such as sector, partner, funding source, and amount of financing.

The following map, taken from DAD Thailand, depicts the regions in which donors from various countries have contributed funds (indicated by the contributing country's flag).
